About Us
The idea was made after the Holy Father's
pilgrimage to Poland in 1999, the Foundation was established in 2000 as an
organization whose activities are to commemorate Pope John Paul II by promotion
of teaching of the Pope and making specific social projects, mainly in
education and culture.
The Foundation is settled in
Warsaw and the founder of the Polish Bishops Conference.
Direct the Council and the Foundation Board. The head of the Council is Fr. Archbishop Kazimierz Nycz. Chairman of the Board is priest Jan Drob.
The
main objectives of the Foundation are to promote the development of culture and
Christian doctrine and Christian media in Poland; improving educational
opportunities for young people from small towns and villages and to promote
teaching of Pope John Paul II.
Foundation
Work of the New Millennium 'is organizing the Papal Day, TOTUS awards, runs a
scholarship program for young people of school age, is organizing a competition
index for academic study of journalism and social policy.
Papal Day is celebrated since
2001 on Sunday preceding the anniversary of Karol Wojtyla to the Holy See
(every year for 16 October). Papal Day celebrations taking
place in four dimensions: intellectual, spiritual, artistic and charitable. On the organization of the Papal
Foundation supports the National Organizing Committee.
Awards are handed TOTUS annually
during the gala ceremony at the Royal Castle on the eve of the Pope. The award is appreciation of the
acquis and to effectively promote people and institutions whose activities as
an outstanding contribution to highlighting the value inherent in human,
material content of the teaching of John Paul II.
Papal Day concert is the most
important artistic event on the Pope.
During the Papal Day is
organized and public fundraising drive under the slogan " Divide
love." Collected funds are intended for
the Foundation's scholarship fund.
Since 2003, the Papal Day
celebration accompanied by the action-word text, which is a complement to
public collection. By sending an SMS phone users
can support the Foundation's scholarship fund.
Foundation Scholarship Program
is to award scholarships particularly gifted, while poor school children from
disadvantaged rural areas and small towns. Currently the program is covered
by the scholarship grantees in 2175.
Foundation
fellows to be accompanied not only in the form of material assistance but also
by the formation. It organizes holiday camps for
grantees and language.
The Foundation, together with
two universities, is organizing an academic competition for them. Fr. Bp. Jan Chrapek.
Warsaw University Institute of Journalism and the Institute of Journalism and Communication at the Jagiellonian University from 2002 through the competition spend 5, and since 2005, jointly with the Institute of Social Policy, Warsaw University, already 10 indexes to study journalism and social policy.
