Papal Day

Papal Day is celebrated since 2001, always on the Sunday preceding the anniversary of Karol Wojtyla to the papacy. These events run in four dimensions: intellectual, spiritual, artistic and charitable.

Intellectual dimension

I whole Poland, are organized dozens of scientific seminars and discussion panels, whose topic is the teaching of John Paul II. They are designed to bring the faithful to the Holy Father's teaching content and expand our knowledge of his pontificate.

Spiritual dimension

Papal Day is primarily a day of spiritual communion with the Holy Father and in His prayer intentions. In all Polish parishes throughout the Sunday preceding the Papal Day is read a pastoral letter the Polish Episcopal Conference. Masses are celebrated in his intention, during which they are preached homilies and catechesis dedicated to the teaching of John Paul II. In many parishes take many devotions and night mode combined with a meditation on the papal texts. In the evening, at a specified time in all the dioceses in the country of Appeals held a solemn prayer in communion with the Holy Father.

Artistic dimension

On the eve of the Pope at the Royal Castle in Warsaw Foundation handed one of the most prestigious awards in the Catholic Church - TOTUS awards. Papal way to the day accompanied by the 30 other major art events, both local and nationwide. The concert is the culmination of Pope's at Castle Square in Warsaw. Papal Day goes well beyond the Polish borders. For the event include the Polish and Polish parishes including Australia, the United States, France, Germany, Great Britain and Kazakhstan.

Chartiy dimension

Responding to the Holy Father's call for solidarity with the poor is organized on that day a public fundraising drive under the slogan "Dzielmy with love", which takes part every year nearly 100 thousand. Volunteers: altar servers, scouts, youth and adults from different backgrounds included in the National Committee Papal Day Organizing. collected in this manner is intended to fund the Foundation Scholarship, which awards scholarships and most talented students, coming from villages and small towns. In this way, everyone can join in building a "living memorial" to John Paul II.
